Z2608     Original Japanned Tin Maynard Tape Primer Container with 10 Primers

Description: Excellent tin container containing the majority of it's original finish. This contains 10 rolls of Maynard tape primers. Nine of them are fully sealed and one is open. The tin tube has two very small dents mentioned for exactness. This is one of the nicer tubes we have had in a long time.

Y1164     Unopened Pack of Maynard Tape Primers

Description: Here is a nice unopened roll of Maynard tape primers. There were ten of these packets in an original tin. You can see the outline of the roll of primers through the brown paper wrapping. These would have been used in conjunction with the M1855 musket produced by Springfield or Harper's Ferry.

Y1160     Model 1867 Maynard Patented Primer Cap

Description: Here is a scarce primer cap for the M1867 Maynard cartridges. There were only two types made the .40-40 and the .64 shot cartridge. Both of these cartridges had a thicker base and this fulminate cap was pressed onto the base prior to firing. This created a self-contained cartridge.

Description: Here is a scarce primer cap for the M1867 Maynard cartridges. There were only two types made the .40-40 and the .64 shot cartridge. Both of these cartridges had a thicker base and this fulminate cap was pressed onto the base prior to firing. This created a self-contained cartridge.

Description: Excellent cartridge known to the collecting community as the .35-30 M1865 with the brass rivet. The rivet was used to hold the casing onto the base. This is the style of projectile that was used during the American Civil War.

Description: Here is a nice Civil War era pointed nose cartridge for the .50 Maynard carbine. This pointed-nose variant was produced by the Frankford Arsenal and the Massachusetts Arms Co.

Y1162     Maynard .50-50 Foil & Paper Cartridge (Poultney's Patent)

Description: Here is an excellent cartridge produced by Thomas Poultney of Baltimore Maryland. The patent was actually held by Thomas Rodman and Silas Crispin. It was assigned to Thomas Poultney for the manufacturing of these cartridges. The specific patent number is 40,988, dated December 15, 1863. This cartridge is known to collectors as the foil and paper cartridge. The wall of the cartridge is made of very thin sheet metal and is covered in paper. The idea behind this cartridge was to allow the casing to expand when firing in order to create a gas check. This cartridge is very clean and has a few small dents on the body which is common due to the materials used during the manufacturing process.

Model 1867

Y1165     Maynard .40-40 Cartridge (Model 1867 with Mead's Patent Explosive Bullet)

Description: Here is a scarce Model 1867 .40-40 Maynard cartridge. These cartridges have a an extra thick base that the fulminate priming cap slips over. Upon firing the internal side of the cap ignites the interior of the cartridge. This particular example has the improved explosive bullet patented by S.H. Mead Jr. on December 10, 1872. These bullets were cast with a hollow nose cavity. This allowed a .22 rimfire blank to be inserted into the nose. Upon impact, the rim would be crushed and the bullet would explode. This is quite a scarce cartridge!

Description: Here is a scarce Model 1867 .64 Shot cartridge. These cartridges have a an extra thick base that the fulminate priming cap slips over. Upon firing the internal side of the cap ignites the interior of the cartridge. This new primed empty is in excellent condition with a primer cap attached.
