Description: Here is a nice complete, full, and correct box of .56-56 Spencer cartridges for the rifle or carbine. These were manufactured by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut. This box contains 25 original .56-56 Spencer cartridge and all have the impressed "U" headstamp. This pasteboard box is intact with a nice label and there is split in the lid on the left seam. This box would have been manufactured in the late 1800's early 1900's.

Description: Excellent copper cased Spencer cartridge for the Civil War .52 Spencer carbine. This one is very nice with some of the original lubricant still on the cartridge. While these cartridges are known as .52 they were originally labeled as No. 56. This is the style recovered from Civil War sites.

Description: This particular example has the improved explosive bullet patented by S.H. Mead Jr. on December 10, 1872. A .22 rimfire blank is inserted into the nose of the projectile. Upon impact, the rimfire cartridge was to explode.

Description: Here is a very nice shotshell cartridge. Suydam shows this as a .56/52 but it appears to be a .56/50. The paper sabot is tightly wrapped around the shot on this example.

Description: Here is a very nice box of (25) .56-52 Spencer rimfire cartridges. This packet was manufactured by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company and is full, correct, and unopened. I have seen a few examples of this packet on the market over the past year or two but not a single one has been sealed. This particular box has the brown label with black print.  This would make an excellent addition to any Spencer collection.

Description: Here is an original sleeve that contains 7 .56/50 Spencer carbine cartridges for the Model 1865 Spencer carbine. All of the cartridges are in excellent shape. None of them have a headstamp and all have three crimps around the casing to hold the bullet in place. When these were originally issued, they would have been packaged in a box with six sleeves totaling 42 rounds of ammunition.

Description: Here is a top notch box containing 25 .56-50 Spencer cartridges by Winchester. This particular box is full, correct, and sealed. It does contain the Stetson's Patent information on the bottom right. The actual patent date was October 31, 1874. If you like minty boxes, this one is for you. They really don't get much better than this!

Y777     Rare Full Packet of .56/60 Spencer Cartridges for the M1865 Spencer Carbine (Joseph Goldmark)

Description: Here is a scarce packet of ammunition. This paper packet contains six sleeves of seven cartridges for the Model 1865 Spencer Carbine. These packets are scarce because the sleeves and packets are wrapped in paper unlike the pasteboard boxes used by Goldmark's competitors. This packet does have some holes around the edges which is quite common for Goldmark packets. There is a tear on the back which can be opened revealing the internal paper sleeves. This box contains an original paper label that reads, "Forty-Two / Metallic Primed Cartridges / For / Spencer Carbine, / CAL. 50, Model 1865. / Made by J. Goldmark, New York, / Manufacturer of / Percussion Caps & Fixed Ammunition."
