Z1309     Excavated P1853 Enfield Tompion

Description: Excavated tompion from Sharpsburg. These were used to keep the barrel of a musket free from the elements. The stem would have been covered by cork and would easily keep out the rain. This one still has a small piece of cork on the inside.
