Z1439 Federal Regulation 1851 Pattern Waist Belt Plate
Description: Here is an excellent early war enlisted sword belt plate. This one still retains it's original curvature with a slight wavy. The patina is a flawless chocolate brown. The motif and tongue are integral to the buckle. This one still has the remains of the nickel-silver wreath. This variant is scarce because the wreath is positioned beneath the eagle's wing tips. O'Donnell states that this design was adopted in the fall of 1861. You can still see some of the gilt below the eagles feet where the wreath would have been.
