Z2267 1820's Thomas Porter II Slave Trade Coat Button
Description: Water recovered coat button with the stand up shank intact. The face has the initials T.P. which stands for Thomas Porter II. Thomas Porter was a slave trader in the early 1800's and had these buttons manufactured for use on his slave and merchant clothing. There is a brass alloy version and a pewter version with T. Porter on the face.
