Z2627 Patented 1859 J.E.B. Stuart Sword Hanger
Description: Here is a nice complete sword hanger that was originally invented by J.E.B. Stuart in 1859. The longest strap measures 21" and the shorter strap measures 11" with the post war swivel snaps. The hanger is marked "FRANKFORD ARSENAL" with a script "US" on the main hook. The leather shows crazing but is still pliable and it's clearly marked with the US ORD. DEPT. SUB INSPECTOR A.D. LAIDLEY. This is definitely an odd variant that isn't as common as the regular 1859 style. This particular rig has a riveted sword hanger that measures over 3" which is quite uncommon for this style rig.
